Participated in the "Please Insert Human Shanghai" project initiated by the Singapore team MashMinds.
This project mainly create in VR, which can be immersed in VR equipment. The work was exhibited at the Facebook Exhibition at China International Import Expo in 2019. There are Oculus VR devices on the exhibition for viewers to watch the art works and printed illustrations, which can be scan for AR experience. The main characters of 3d printing are also on display.

I looked for a perspective to express Chinese culture.
In the Chinese zodiac, monkeys and rooster are two animals that match each other; we call this "yin and yang" in Chinese. The monkey's spirituality and rooster's perseverance complement each other. If someone has spirituality but no perseverance, they would be unstable. If someone has perseverance but no spirituality, they would be stiff.

去年7月受邀参加了来自新加坡的创意科技工作室MeshMinds发起的《请用人类启动上海》项目。
这个项目主要是VR创作,可在VR设备里沉浸式观看。作品在2019年上海进博会上Facebook的展台展出。现场有oculus的VR设备供观众在头显里观看作品,以及印刷的插画作品,可用手机扫描图片进行ar互动。还展出了3d打印的主要角色。

这次项目的大主题为中国文化。
我的构思方向就是结合生肖的概念来创造一个诗意而神秘的空间。
生肖是我们熟悉又陌生的概念。每个人有自己的生肖属相,大家也都会谈及到生肖,尤其在过年,生肖更替的时候。但我们又对生肖的背景,对生肖的不同的传说,古人给予它们的含义知之甚少。所以我想去找一些生肖的故事来创作。
在中国的生肖中,猴和鸡是互为阴阳相配的两种动物。猴的灵性和鸡的恒心是相互的—申猴灵通,酉鸡恒守,有灵但没有恒心则变。有恒心但没有灵则僵。一个动一个静。

动画故事
主人公是一只猴性的人,他处于浮动焦虑,思绪多变的状态。
突然时间转动,进入到了诗意的空间,一只巨大的猴子,手捧着一只公鸡。
整个空间神秘而宁静,一切都是自然的声音,可以让人感受到无限的舒适。
之前的焦虑不安也因此消失不见了。

在VR创作的初期,我先是在PS上创作了一幅概念插画。

The main VR software what I used in this project is Oculus Quill.
Oculus Quill is a VR illustration and animation tool. Quill allows users to paint and animate in virtual reality on an infinitely scalable canvas - with rich colors and intuitive tools. 
This is  the first time I learned to use it, and I gradually felt the fun of using it.
这次主要用到的VR软件是Oculus Quill。Oculus Quill 是一款VR插图和动画工具。Quill允许用户在无限 可缩放的画布上绘制虚拟现实中的插画和动画。
这是我第一次学会用它,在和Quill的磨合的过程中慢慢感受到了使用它的乐趣。


In addition to Quill, I also learned to use another VR digital sculpting software—Oculus Medium. I created a 3D model of the character I designed and printed it in 3D.
除了Quill以外,还学会使用了另一款VR建模软件——Oculus Medium。给自己设计的角色建了一个3D模型,并且被3D打印了出来。


I has made a lot of new try in this project, using Quill to draw and make animation, using Medium modeling, and making 3D print.
And I think VR provides a new way to create. The creative experience in VR is very different from that on a two-dimensional screen or paper. The feeling of creating a world is much stronger. 
这次项目做了很多的新尝试用Quill画动画,用Medium建模,还做了3D模型。
而且我觉得VR提供了一种新的方式创作。在VR里的创作体验和二维屏幕上或纸上的是很不一样的,那种创造世界的感觉要强很多。只要想象力放得开,就可以在里面创造一个自己的世界。

There is an exciting news that the project has been shortlisted for the World Illustration Awards. It will announced the winners on October. 
还有一件开心的事,这个作品进入了World Illustration Awards的短名单。10月将公布最终获奖者。
